Greater Dallas Jewish Community Study, 1988

Sponsor(s): Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas

Principal Investigator(s): Gary A. Tobin

Study Dates: 1988

Sample: Adult Jewish Households in the Greater Dallas Area

Sample Size: 977

Sample Notes: The data were gathered from 977 individuals in households with one or more Jewish individuals via a telephone interview survey. It is estimated in the published report that there are about 36,900 people (of whom about 33,200 are Jews) living in 15,260 Jewish households. The sampling universe included Jewish households located in Near North Dallas, Far North Dallas/Richardson, East and Northeast Dallas/West Garland, Plano/Carrollton, and Other Dallas/Other Suburbs. The sampling procedure was a combination of random digit dialing, random selection from the Federation list, and randomly selected households with distinctive Jewish names.
Study Notes: The data are weighted to compensate for differential sampling by geographic areas and reflect estimates of the Jewish population and Jewish households in the Greater Dallas area.
