1994 Jewish Demographic Study of Dade County

Population Estimates: In 1994, 151,600 Jewish persons lived in 74,500 Jewish households in the Greater Miami area. Of these, 143,100 resided in the area for at least eight months. Total population in Jewish households (including non-Jews) was 163,000, reflecting population d
Sample: Adult Jewish Households in the Dade County Area. Geographic areas include North Dade (North Miami and North Miami Beach), the Beaches (Miami Beach, Sufside, Bay Harbor Islands), and South Dade (Key Biscayne, Coral Gables, South Miami).

Sample Size: 1217

Sample Notes: Sampling procedure was a combination of random digit dialing (RDD) and random interviews with households with distinctive Jewish names (DJNs) from local telephone directories. Estimation of Jewish HH and Jewish persons based on RDD interviews, with several upwards adjustments, including a 5% adjustment increase for Jewish HH which "deny" that they are Jewish. DJN interviews were adjusted to parallel RDD interviews in terms of age. Weight factor "wf" adjusts data to a weighted N=1216, based on both the age adjustment and geographic over-sampling adjustments.
