Sample Notes: The data were gathered from 484 individuals in households with one or more Jewish individuals via a telephone interview survey. It is estimated in the published report that there are about 18,239 people living in about 10,133 Jewish households. It was also estimated that there are 6,789 Jewish Senior households and 10,724 Jewish seniors. The sampling universe included Jewish households located in Greater Palm Springs and the surrounding Desert area. The sampling procedure was essentially a list sample of distinctive Jewish names; over 60% of the sample was obtained this way. The modified "random" sample was obtained by taking the last digit of a telephone directory listed Jewish surname "seed" phone number and altering it by adding or subtracting digits.
