Sample: Adult Jewish Households in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk.

Sample Size: 650

Sample Notes: The data were gathered from 650 individuals in households with one or more Jewish individuals via a telephone interview survey. (CAUTION: Our data set shows N=450. It is not clear in the report why this discrepancy occurs. The 1986 data set does not match the 1988 report.) It is estimated in the published report that there are 18,850 Jewish persons living in 8,450 households. The sampling universe included Jewish households located in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. The sampling procedure utilized a combination of random digit dialing and a Federation list.
